Assessment Methods

Our approach to the learning, teaching and assessment of our students is tailored to the needs of marketing and so we adopt a wide range of learning and teaching methods to ensure not only that our students will gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of the world of marketing, but also develop their intellectual and personal skills.
Our programme is designed to enhance the employability and professional competence of our graduates in the skills and attributes demanded by employers in a global economy and provide them with the knowledge, skills and attributes which allow them to be flexible, independent lifelong learners.
Our assignments are designed to encourage the development and application of skills such as evaluation, analysis, and judgement within a marketing context. For example, our Level Three students undertake the E-Marketing module, where after learning the theory and practice of internet marketing, they are required to act as ‘internet marketing consultants’. They appraise the current internet marketing capabilities of a chosen organisation and make recommendations as to how online marketing could be improved.

Teaching Methods

Throughout the programme our students have opportunities to engage in ‘real life’ issues through live industry projects, case studies and investigations which put into practice the theories learned.
Our students have the opportunity to undertake structured work experience, becoming involved in ‘real-time’ marketing projects for external companies and other organisations. In recent years, our students have successfully completed projects in industries as diverse as telecommunications, tourism/heritage, and whisky.
Our lecturers have good links with senior marketing professionals, some of whom are former students, working in areas such as brand management, marketing consultancy, advertising and public relations. These contacts are regularly invited to give guest lectures and master classes.
