You'll graduate from this level as a midwife who's qualified to give direction in high level clinical, management, academic and research aspects of the provision of health services.You will possess a unique blend of abilities stemming from clinical experience, rigorous intellectual development and participation within the analysis of topics critical to midwifery. The level offers an integrated program of research by supporting course work in the year. During a mixture of core and optional subjects, you will obtain wisdom and techniques in designing and executing research, literature review techniques, critical analysis and writing for publication, in addition to opportunities to apply these skills in clinical or professional endeavors of significance to nursing.The research component calls for one to pursue an independent and ongoing investigation to an investigation problem of one's own design that will culminate in the submission of a thesis for study of 60,000 words.
- The minimum academic requirement for entry to a Professional Doctorate degree at La Trobe is a four-years of study with a degree eligibility or a Masters degree using a weighted average mark in the last year of 65 or above completed over the previous 10 years

- And at least two years professional practice.Applicants enrolling in the Doctor of Midwifery should be eligible for registration as a registered midwife using the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or approved international equivalent.
