The Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), in collaboration with Durham College, offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours). The Faculty's mission is to prepare professional nurses to fill the demand for qualified nurses and to develop and transmit knowledge regarding nursing practice and the human experience of health, illness and healing. The concept of caring is central to the nursing program and builds the foundation for excellence in clinical practice. The curriculum is grounded in the natural sciences and fosters the development of communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Collaborative learning activities are combined with traditional methods to prepare students for life-long learning, research, teamwork, and leadership skills essential for nursing practice. Students have access to state-of-the-art technically enhanced laboratories and facilities, including a new clinical skills laboratory and a 30-bed, simulated hospital. Over fifty employers from the health sector provide practicum experience and supervision.Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours).
