Nutrition Science

This program gives pupils an comprehension of anatomy, biochemistry and physiology, nutrition education, and health needs of specific populations.As a health qualification, the Bachelor of Nutrition Science allows entry to general health-related positions also to grad teaching programs. Candidates of Nutrition Science workin areas involving instruction in community health centers, government associations, industry, education and research. Nutritionists use expertise in nutrition to promote and enhance the wellbeing of communities and individuals. As community or public health workers, nutritionists attempt to increase the dietary patterns and habits of populations or groups through instruction, marketing and training. Practitioners act as public and consumer health specialists, food advertising consultants, food educators, product developers, and by promoting nutrition through the media as food editors and journalists.

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership of the Public Health Association of Australia and the Nutrition Society.

• Year 12 or equivalent
• Assumed knowledge: English, or Literature, or English and Literature, or English as an Additional Language (Units 4 & 3, C)
• Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 4 & 3, C) and Chemistry (Units 4 & 3, C).
