If you are interested in seeking explanations for exotic aspects of the universe, such as black holes and subatomic particles, or in being involved in the development of exciting modern devices such as lasers and computers, then you are interested in physics. You may choose to specialize in physics, biophysics, chemical physics, or theoretical physics. Each of these majors provides excellent preparation for high-tech careers in industry, government, or university. The Physics Department has nationally recognized expertise in teaching and research. Five faculty have been named Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada, and another holds the Canadian Association of Physicists 1997 Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Students choosing the Co-op option will complete their program in five years.Graduates may find career opportunities as physicist, software developer, climatologist, industrial research, quality controller, computer/instrumentation interfacing, and computer network administrator.
