Course Content

The course develops your core knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to enter professional and management roles in the construction industry.

The course themes include: construction technology, traditional quantity surveying skills – measurement and documentation, construction contracts and procurement, construction cost management and commercial management.

These core course themes have been developed based on the course philosophy which is to provide a balance between the “traditional” fundamental knowledge needs of the quantity surveyor, whilst simultaneously providing the needs of tomorrow’s market place.

You will find that your course is taught using lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratories, workshops and studio sessions. These will be supervised by academic and technical support staff. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

You will work with staff on real-world problems from industry, commerce and research groups, as you would in professional practice; this means that you develop all of the professional skills at the same time as you learn the technical content of your degree.
