Description

The structure of the course was developed following discussion with specific organisations including UK Sport, Sport England, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity, National Governing Bodies and local and nationally recognised health and fitness clubs in the Dorset area.

Industry links

As well as the placement, our students also have the opportunity to work with sport organisations in their final year consultancy project, working on real-life projects, as well as benefitting from our links with the industry, and a range of guest speakers. Industry links have been developed with a number of key partners (e.g. the Club Managers Association of Europe, the RFU, Dorset FA , England Athletics, Wessex Volleyball, Southampton FC, and AFC Bournemouth.

In addition, we have developed a range of international links with other universities involving activities such as visiting academics (University of Florida), guest lectures (Heidelberg, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen), and collaborative research activities (such as those with University of Western Sydney, Murray State University, USA, The Tourism Institute, Macau, University College, Florida, Victoria University, and the University of South Australia).
