The MSc in Systems Engineering and Innovation aims to develop the next generation of technology champions in the mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering of service systems. It aims to take students who have already shown competence and leadership in the field of M&E services and who wish to extend their knowledge of systems, and systems thinking. It focuses on the new systems engineering issues likely to confront conventional M&E services systems in the next decade. An important component addresses the management of innovation needed to bring these new systems and concepts successfully into play.
The programme content is designed to be uncompromisingly challenging and would be suitable only for the most able students. At the personal level it will stretch students who have already shown their competence in traditional M&E services by exposing them to new unfamiliar systems, systems theory and new system component requirements. With a special emphasis on data networks, it is intended to give the student confidence to lead the significant revolution in M&E services already anticipated by major industrial players.

Entry requirements
At least an Upper Second Class Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in an engineering subject would normally be required for entry to the programme, along with industrial experience in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services projects.
To reflect the key role of systems engineers in a project, candidates should expect to have demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation potential in their industrial experience.
Candidates should either already hold Chartered Engineer status or should expect to enrol on a programme to achive Chartered status.
Where applicable, applicants must satisfy the College’s English proficiency requirement
English Language Requirements
To obtain maximum benefit from studies at Imperial College all students must have a good command of the English Language. Imperial College therefore requires applicants to have taken an English Language test and achieved an acceptable grade or score before admission can be confirmed.
