The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program allows students to study veterinary medicine in line with the most effective offshore models and offers higher-level theoretical and practical training which is applicable both within Australia and internationally. Students study on a team of leading veterinarians in a program that embraces the newest clinical technologies and evidence-based techniques. The program has a practical and hands-on focus, for example your final year of lecture-free practical trained in the University of Melbourne's veterinary hospital (in Werribee) and other approved web sites. There will also be the ability for students to pursue scientific investigations in a dynamic research environment. This program will ensure graduates are equipped with the personal, professional and scientific skills to excel in veterinary science from the 21st century.
American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA); Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK); Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc.. Candidates will be qualified to register and practise as a veterinarian throughout Australia and many other nations, including Great Britain and New Zealand.
- Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Health and illness (Veterinary Bio Science specialisation) at the University of Melbourne
- or agriculture, biomedicine or science degree from the University of Melbourne or another association, including at least one term of study in both general or cellular chemistry and biochemistry
- Personal statement of 500 words including details of 2-3 referees.
