Veterinary Nursing

This qualification reflects the function of a veterinary nurse who works under the supervision of a registered vet to give nursing care to animals, to encourage veterinarians to carry out surgical and medical treatments, and to encourage clients to keep health of animals.The Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing necessitates usage of patients (animals), clients, surgical and medical cases, veterinary staff, and practice policies and procedures.To achieve this qualification, the candidate will need to have done at least 240 hours of job positioning as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the relevant units of competency.The scope of training for veterinary nurses is dependent on territory and state legislative and regulatory requirements. Users of this eligibility must refer to the appropriate regulations and laws at the development of assessment and training strategies.

Entry into this eligibility is open to individuals who:Require a Certificate II at Animal StudiesORhold a relevant Certificate III or higher level qualification in an animal science disciplineORcan demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge at an applicable animal science field into all the above qualifications.Refer into this Companion Volume Implementation Guide for details.
