Course Content

You will study the following modules:

English Language

  • English language is an essential subject in the International Diploma programme and covers the key skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

People and Work

  • You will develop insights into the behaviour of individuals and groups at work and analyse the nature and complexities of people management.

Quantative Business Modelling

  • This module introduces quantitative modelling with regards to decision-making in business. You will also learn how to use the spreadsheet as an analytical tool for modelling quantitative business problems.

Business and Enterprise

  • This module discusses the major issues arising from the development of businesses. Focusing on real life case studies, you will explore the causes and effects of changes in the nature, scale and role of business enterprise.

Management and Organisations

  • Studying theory, you will enhance your understanding of the complex nature of management in modern organisations. Emphasis is placed on the challenges facing managers in the modern business environment, where new technologies, rapid change, innovation and creativity are critical to an organisation's success.

Consumer Buying Behaviour

  • You will gain a broad-based knowledge of the characteristics of consumer groups and the factors that drive their buying decisions.

Learning, Development and Work

  • This module will allow you to explore and understand learning at three levels: individual, organisational and national. Reference will be made to the influence of key stakeholders.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment in the Diploma programme is both informal and formal. Teachers will give you advice and feedback throughout your studies, which helps you meet the requirements for third-year entry to university. You will also be assessed via a combination of:

  • written assignments
  • reports
  • practical exercises
  • group and individual research projects
  • bibliographical services
  • oral and video presentations
  • problem solving exercises

Assessment will be based on the University's marking scale for undergraduate studies.

Audience

The International Diploma is suitable for international students who have completed A-levels or a recognised International Foundation programme, or who are already in the first year of a relevant undergraduate degree in their home country, but do not meet the academic or English language requirements for direct entry to Glasgow Caledonian University.

This course is not available for UK or EU students.

Academic requirements:

A recognised Foundation programme or International Certificate of Higher Education programme, the first year of a relevant undergraduate degree programme or A-Level equivalent in a suitable range of subjects.

English requirements:

Five term programme: IELTS 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in writing, or equivalent score

Four term programme: IELTS 5.0 with a minimum of 4.5 in writing, or equivalent score

Three term programme: IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in writing, or equivalent score

Age:

17 years and above

All students commencing courses on a published September start date must be 17 years old by 31st December of that calendar year. For all other start dates, students must be 17 years old on the published start date of the course.
