Enrolment fees

120 EUR social and administrative fees per semester

Costs of living

Living costs are 670 EUR per month on average. These costs are the sole responsibility of the student.
In order to obtain a student visa, you must provide proof of financial means for this amount over the course of the study programme. Please note that this is a minimum requirement, and that actual living costs may be higher depending on your choice of accommodation and use of local amenities.
Financial support from the university to cover living expenses is not available.

Job opportunities

According to the conditions of your visa and your residence permit, you will be expected to use your time in Germany primarily for your studies. This means that you are allowed to work for no more than 120 full/240 half days per year.
Normally, a limited number of student assistant jobs will be available within the faculty or university which may not be subject to this rule. You should check noticeboards for these, especially at the beginning of the semester. Fairly good German language skills are expected.
Please be aware that the workload will be high and that we do not recommend that you work during your studies.

Funding opportunities within the university

As a leading German business school, we support talented, well-qualified students by offering scholarships.
Students who have excelled in their undergraduate degrees are eligible for a 3,200 EUR scholarship. As an applicant to the MBA programme, you are automatically eligible for consideration for this scholarship.

Arrival support

Our programme support services help to ensure that studying in Germany will not only prove to be an academic success, but will also be a personally enriching experience for you.
We offer comprehensive and individualised support in helping you with such things as finding suitable living accommodation and getting you started upon arrival. For example, we can arrange a pick-up service that will take you from the Villingen-Schwenningen train stations to your new apartment if so required.
An Orientation Programme for International Students is organised in the two weeks prior to commencement of studies. During this orientation, most of the administrative issues facing a student new to Germany are covered. You will also be taken through a number of required processes such as registration with city hall. The orientation weeks also offer a crash course in German for those who need it.
HFU is well known for its outstanding student support programme. Of course, our student support functions don't stop after orientation. Support will continue throughout the academic year. We know that living abroad can be challenging, and we want to make sure that your stay at the HFU Business School is as enjoyable as possible.

Services and support for international students

Our MBA programme has a dedicated Programme Director whose specific task is to provide individualised help and support services to applicants and students. We know that moving to a foreign country to undertake studies can be complicated. Student visas need to be obtained and accommodation must be found. The Programme Director is there to guide students through the entire process and will even arrange to have you picked up at the train station and driven to your student accommodation when you arrive.

Accommodation

The Programme Director offers comprehensive support in finding suitable accommodation if required.
Students will receive detailed information packages once they have received their letters offering them a place on the programme.
For student accommodation in Schwenningen the costs (for a room in a shared flat or a one-room apartment) range between 240-380 EUR per month, including charges.
