This Masters programme specialisation focuses on training students to become highly qualified professionals able to manage and regulate efficient network industries and infrastructures. The programme takes two years for a total of 120 EC.

Students in this programme benefit from the collaboration of the Pontifical University Comillas - Madrid (noted for its excellence in electricity market regulation), University Paris-Sud 11 (renowned for its expertise in economics and management of network industries), and Delft University of Technology (famous for its research and teaching on applied industry and network economics). Students are required to study in at least two different countries.

Obtain two diplomas

This Erasmus Mundus programme allows students to earn a multiple diploma. To obtain the EPA degree, students must complete courses worth at least 60 EC at TU Delft, which includes all first year courses in the EPA programme (except multivariate modelling).

The main objective of our Masters Course is to produce qualified professionals, able to manage and regulate network industries and infrastructures within a liberalized framework. These professionals could belong to network companies, to regulation departments of public or private utilities, consulting teams, public entities like ministries, development or regulatory agencies, etc. Enrolling their staff in our program is, for these institutions, one of the best ways to improve their competitiveness and efficiency, not only in Europe and developed countries but also in developing ones.

What you will learn

The programme draws on the expertise of faculty members actively engaged in research in industry and the public sector. EMIN students learn to integrate the engineering, economics and management principles that are relevant in the network and infrastructure industry. Graduates of this programme can expect to possess:

* Global understanding of the characteristics of European and global network industries
* Deep knowledge of the basics of economic regulation and policy of network industries
* Management capabilities applied to network industries
* The skills necessary for the technical and economic modelling of network industries

Thesis work and internships are offered with network industries and institutions. Students will be required to present their research results in a dedicated research seminar to be held at the Florence School of Regulation - Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy).

The EMIN is a two-year joint programme (120 ECTS) with two separate phases:
Training period (90 ECTS): 3 semesters worth 30 ECTS each of lectures at the partner universities.

Master Thesis and internships (30 ECTS): to be carried by students at any of the EMIN partner universities, with the collaboration of the industry partners that will support the development of professional internship of EMIN students during the last stage of their studies.

Category A scholarships, funded by the European Commission, are available for highly qualified third-country graduate students and scholars. These are aimed for students to follow the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course, and for scholars to carry out teaching and research assignments and scholarly work in the institutions participating in the Course. Category B scholarships, also funded by the European Commission, are available for highly qualified graduate students not eligible for Category A also to follow the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

Students and scholars must apply to the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course. If they are accepted to participate, the EMIN Erasmus Mundus consortia apply to the Commission for the corresponding scholarship funds.

According to the European Commission rules, students shall not apply to more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters at the same call. So they have to select only three courses of their convenience at a time.

Category A eligible beneficiaries
Third-country graduate students: Third-country graduate student means a person who is neither a national nor a resident of any of the Member States or the countries participating in the programme according to Article 9 of the Programme Decision; who has already obtained a first higher education degree; who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries; who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has been accepted to register or is registered in the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

West Balkans and Turkey window students: third country graduate students national of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia or Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244/99, as well as the three candidate countries, namely Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia or Turkey; who have already obtained a first higher education degree; and who have been accepted to register or are registered in the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

Tunisia and Egypt window students: third country graduate students national of Tunisia or Egypt; who have already obtained a first higher education degree; and who have been accepted to register or are registered in the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

Eastern Neighbourhood Countries window students: third country graduate students national of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine; who have already obtained a first higher education degree; and who have been accepted to register or are registered in the EMIN Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.

Third country scholars: Third-country scholar means a person who is neither a national nor a resident of any of the Member States or the countries participating in the programme according to Article 9 of the Programme Decision; who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries; who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has outstanding academic and/or professional experience.

When selecting students and scholars for scholarships, our Masters Program will pay due respect to the principle of gender equality. Furthermore, we should have a pro-active attitude towards potential grantees with special needs. Without prejudice to the respect of high academic standards, in order to ensure a geographical balance across third-country students / scholars, the EMIN Masters Course will respect the following basic criteria when selecting third-country students / scholars:

* no more than 2 of the selected third-country students should come from the same country.

Amount of scholarships
Students Category A Students

For each student the scholarship amounts to 24 000 Euro per academic year. This includes the contribution to tuition fees of 8 000 Euro, 12 monthly grants of 1 000 Euro and a fixed amount of 4 000 Euro for fees, travel expenses, relocation costs, etc. As EMIN lasts two years, the student will receive double this amount: 48 000 Euro.

Category B Students

For each student the scholarship amounts to 10 000 Euro per academic year. This includes the contribution to tuition fees of 4 000 Euro, 12 monthly grants of 500 Euro. As EMIN lasts two years, the student will receive double this amount: 20 000 Euro. Additionally, 3 000 Euros will be awarded as a fixed amount for travel and accommodation if there is mobility to third-country (non EU) EMIN full/associated partners for one semester.

From 2 400 Euro for a two-week stay, to 14 800 Euro for a 3-month stay.

Accreditation

Comillas Pontifical University:

PRESENT: Master in Electric Power Industry Official recognition and accreditation in Spain. In cases where the Joint Degree cannot be issued.

FUTURE: Joint Master in Economics and Management of Network Industries To be recognised in Spain. Designed for the explicit preferences of those of the EMIN partner Universities willing to be included in this EMIN Joint Degree, as legislation developments allow. This Joint Master Degree could only be established after the approval of the mentioned Royal Decree.
