You are automatically a member of the University’s Student Association, which is tasked to enhance and improve your student and academic experience. It does this by having a strong representation structure, extra-curricular activities, clubs and societies, and much more.

You will also have the opportunity to join a Student Association Events Committee and develop a full and varied programme which could include activities including sports, quiz nights, dancing, theatre, debating societies – the list goes on. The exact mix of events varies from centre to centre and as it’s put together by our students, it’s up to you!

Ever thought about joining a debating or cooking club? Want to go abseiling or play football, netball or any other kind of sport? Why not think about joining one or more of our many clubs and societies. And if you can't find a club or society you're interested in, then you can even start your own.

Personal tutor

Our personal tutor scheme means that you'll have the guidance of a qualified professional throughout your time at The University of Law. Through regular meetings, your personal tutor will be there to guide you through the course and offer assistance and advice as required. They'll also be on hand to help you as you develop your plans for your future career.

Student representative committee

We believe in listening and acting upon the views of students, and the Student Association gives you an opportunity to do that.

The Student Association has a range of different representatives. We have Class Representatives for each workshop class, as your first point of contact. Class Representatives attend Student-Staff Liaison Committee meetings to feed back to the University on all aspects of your University experience.

The Student Association Centre Officers are our paid position and represent each University campus. The Course Representatives, External Representative and i-Programme representative are here to represent the interests of each programme at the University. We also have Student Trustees who act as a check and balance on the work of the Association and that of the Student Association Executive. All of these roles attend the Student Parliament meetings, which occur three times per year.

Student welfare

The University provides support and guidance if you need help while you are with us. Every campus has a confidential counselling service and learning support team, and you'll have the opportunity to register with a local GP when you enrol at the University. And don't forget your campuses Student Services team who are also on hand to give you advice on a wide range of issues.

Freshers' Week kicks things off in September with a variety of events to help you get to know your fellow LLB and University of Law students, including quizzes, comedy nights, city tours and, of course, the Freshers' Fair and party. Other events throughout the year have included staff-versus-student pub quizzes, summer and end-of-year balls, to name just a very few.

Local students' union

As well as all the social activities, clubs and societies going on at the University, our undergraduate students also hold FREE associate membership of their centre's local university students' union. You will have access to the social facilities, clubs, societies, and events that your local students union offer, as well as giving you the opportunity to meet students studying at universities across the city. The only thing you can't do is compete in their sports teams, but why would you when you'll be playing for Team Law?!
