A flexible format allows you to develop specialized expertise by following one of the different knowledge tracks.
A Tilburg University's Master's program in Accounting offers you:
- Access to some of Europe's leading business minds, with teaching by international professors from the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, whose research endeavours are among the most high profile in the world.
- A curriculum that delivers the most relevant concepts, principles and insights from both scientific literature and industry, taught in a way that will help you remember them for years to come.
- Research-Based Learning. From the start, we teach you how to conduct research and how to apply it. You will be taught to directly link theory to practice: thinking and doing always go together.
- A credential respected by employers around the world as an indicator of solid business knowledge and well-developed analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- The opportunity to customise your degree with a specialized track. Choose between the Professional track (RA/RC) or the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) track.
The program consists of 60 Credits (ECTS), equivalent to 1680 hours of study, offered over two semesters. The two semesters are divided into two blocks each. One semester starts in August, with exams in December and January. The other semester runs from January to June. Your program depends on when you'll start with your Master's program: at the end of August or at the end of January. Courses are offered once a year, this means that when you start with the program in August you will follow other courses first than when you start in January.
Tracks
Professional track
The professional track (RA/RC) focuses on the set-up and control of external financial reporting with additional core subjects in management accounting, auditing and accounting information systems. You can choose between either financial reporting or management accounting within the program's elective. The Professional Track offers excellent preparation for a range of careers including auditing, tax consulting, management consulting, or as a controller in a company. It is also a stepping stone to the Post-Master Accountancy (Registeraccountant RA) - in Dutch; the European Post-Master Accountancy (Registeraccountant RA) starting in May 2014 or the Post-Master's program Executive Master of Finance and Control ( Registercontroller RC) in Dutch.
CFA track
CFA Track The CFA Track offers students interested in both accounting and finance the opportunity to acquire the prestigious CFA® qualification (Chartered Financial Analysts Institute). During this track you follow core accounting courses supplemented by finance electives such as investment analysis, and can expect to be adequately prepared to sit the CFA exams upon completion of the program. Subsequent career paths include that of financial analyst and investment banker. Some knowledge of finance (e.g. courses finance 1 and finance 2 or the equivalent in premaster) is required.
