The Applied Computer Science program focuses on the theory and application of Computing and Information Systems (CIS) in business and scientific environments. The rapidly growing field of CIS offers an exciting range of careers from web application programmers to project managers. The Applied Computer Science program is also designed to provide an excellent basis for graduate studies in either Computer Science or Information Sciences. Depending on the courses chosen, students can graduate with either a three-year or four-year Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree; we recommend the four-year degree programs due to the greater depth of study. The Applied Computer Science curriculum includes a wide range of courses that prepare students for careers such as systems analysts, designers, application programmers, database specialists, software engineers, or project managers. Our courses are designed to develop skills in Object Oriented programming, computer architecture, systems analysis and design, and database theory. We also offer state-of-the art courses in GUI Design, Telecommunications, and Java. Our team-oriented courses are designed to strengthen communication skills, provide for group dynamics, and foster self-confidence. Our program will help students develop analytical thinking and software design and development skills by blending theoretical and practical aspects of CIS.
