The programme is designed to improve practical skills, understanding of psychology and research skills. It is organised to suit people who work full-time and those who live and work far from Glasgow. Students set their own learning objectives and undertake assignments that are of specific relevance to their professional activities.
Aimed at increasing practitioners' academic and practice skills, it does not in itself offer a professional license to practice psychology. It will be of interest and relevance both to psychologists who are already licensed, to enhance their academic skills and non-psychologists who wish to enhance their psychological expertise.
The multidisciplinary and international nature of the cohort is also of benefit to students coming from a variety of health and social care professions, from social sciences, law and business undertaking the professional doctorate in their own chosen discipline.
They have opportunities to share learning with other students, who support each other and bring fresh perspectives to bear on relevant issues.
Part-time study over four years by blended learning involving intensive face-to-face learning blocks each over 4 days in Glasgow, extensive peer-to-peer and student-teacher contact via internet learning systems to support independent learning around the student's existing workplace.
