The first two years of the programs are very similar to the Physics Honours and Specialization programs, with the inclusion of one astrophysics course (on structure and evolution of stars) in second year in place of an arts option. With this similarity, it is relatively straightforward for a student to transfer from one program to another. The third year includes another astrophysics course (stellar environment, galaxies, and cosmology) as well as statistical physics, special relativity, quantum mechanics, electromagnetic theory, complex analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, arts options and, for honours programs, classical mechanics. Fourth year requires two more astrophysics courses пПР one on physical cosmology and another on stellar interiors. For honours programs, students take advanced quantum mechanics and electromagnetic theory, as well as a selection of options from a list of appropriate courses. Specialization programs do not require the advanced quantum mechanics and electromagnetic theory, and students select from a list of appropriate courses.
