Be part of medical innovation. The growing field of biomedical engineering applies the principles and technologies associated with engineering to discover solutions to medical problems. A combination of applied sciences, electronics and mechanical devices is applied to life systems. In this hands-on program, you will examine systems from a molecular level to a full body level. By combining several disciplines you will learn ways to improve human health and quality of life. Biomedical Engineers study what happens when something goes wrong, as in the case of disease or injury. Students will study anatomy, physiology and pathology, and incorporate their studies with courses in mathematics, computer sciences, and chemistry. You will be able to specialize in biomechanics, biosignal processing and pharmaceuticals. Graduates will be qualified for employment in both public and private sectors of the health care industry. Students choosing the Co-op program will complete their degree in five years.
Field of study: Biomedical/Medical Engineering
