Course Content
La ingeniería química es una de las cuatro ingenierías clásicas. Sus orígenes se remontan al siglo XIX. Surgió como respuesta a la necesidad de generar profesionales capaces de diseñar procesos y productos, así como de calcular, proyectar y dirigir la construcción y el funcionamiento de instalaciones industriales en que se llevan a cabo procesos químicos y de propiciar el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías para el progreso de la ciencia y de la sociedad, con el mínimo impacto adverso sobre el medio natural.
La industria química es uno de los sectores más importantes del entorno productivo en el ámbito internacional y por tanto es un claro demandante de profesionales con la formación de Ingeniería Química.
Junto a las industrias químicas propiamente dichas hay muchos otros sectores donde se llevan a cabo transformaciones químicas y por tanto, también son posibles demandantes de profesionales con amplios conocimientos en procesos químicos (cerámica, tratamientos superficiales, alimentación, etc.).
En el entorno de la UJI el sector químico está representado principalmente por empresas químicas relacionadas con la cerámica, por la existencia de una refinería y de industrias con derivados petrolíferos y por la presencia de una gran variedad de empresas de proceso dedicadas a fines muy variados: tratamiento de aguas, residuos sólidos, energía
Requisitos
Los estudios de Grado en Ingeniería Química demandarán del alumnado que ingrese, un alto nivel de esfuerzo y dedicación al estudio. Por ello es importante que el alumno tenga vocación, habilidad para el razonamiento abstracto, creatividad e ingenio, mentalidad analítica y crítica, capacidad de observación, instinto de superación y constancia, tanto en el estudio como en el trabajo.
Es asimismo deseable que los alumnos de nuevo ingreso posean amplios conocimientos de Química, Matemáticas y Física, que constituyen los fundamentos de gran parte de los conocimientos a impartir. También serán convenientes nociones de Dibujo Técnico y Tecnología industrial. Todo ello facilitará, sin duda, su adecuado progreso en los estudios que se proponen.
