Civil engineers plan, design, construct, operate, manage and maintain airports, bridges, buildings, dams, highways, railways, pipeline systems, tunnels, water distribution systems and treatment facilities. In short, civil engineers provide and maintain the infrastructure we depend on daily. CarletonпПХs Civil Engineering program starts by giving students a broad background in the basic sciences, mathematics, chemistry, physics, thermodynamics, geology and numerical methods. In the final two years, students focus on more specific areas, such as structural, geotechnical, transportation and municipal engineering. A concentration in Management is also offered.
