The job of Computer Science entails the usage of the latest technology and methods, and has a major focus on applications creation. The course is oriented towards software in areas such as defence, aerospace and medicine, where advanced applications plays a significant role and sometimes of a safety-critical temperament; and in companies that require extensive computer aid, such as banking and manufacturing.

- Year 12 or equivalent
- VCE Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 at English (EAL)
- And Components 1 and 2: decent completion in 2 units (any analysis combination) of almost any Mathematics. Added performance criteria and prerequisite requirements can also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory conclusion of a few of these: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 higher level level) with overall 65 percent, all of skills 65%
- Minimum IELTS overall group of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 75 having a studying band a minimum of 18 and writing band a minimum of 20
- Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no real skills significantly less than 50)
- every other equivalent examination of English language competence. Notice: A necessity for most classes, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done on campus at Hawthorn.
