Offered by Athabasca UniversityпПХs School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), the Bachelor of Science Major in Computing and Information Systems program (B.Sc.C.I.S.) is designed for students who would like to further their career or academic interests and do not want to be constrained by attending face-to-face classes or standard years of study and want to possess knowledge and skills in analysis, design and implementation of computer-based systems.BSc-CIS is aimed to strike a balance between computing science and information system design and development, a balance between theories and applications. While graduates from the program are well qualified to embark on their graduate studies in computer science or other closely related areas at other universities, they are equally well prepared for jobs in the IT industries. By taking a suggested list of elective courses, graduates from the program can acquire more specialized knowledge and skills in certain areas of computing and information systems, such as Web development, network administration, Java programming, game development, and others.
