The programme integrates knowledge of organizations with social-scientific insights into culture, identity and power. Organizations are a social intersection where people meet. The Master's programme Culture, Organization and Management explores how people deal with their work, customers and each other within their organizations. Managers and staff involved in policy changes, mergers and international collaborations often run up against forces of routine, tradition, deep-rooted emotions and political infighting. The programme enables students to deepen their knowledge of the cultural dimension of management and organization, as well as their skills to research, describe and explain this dimension. The programme focuses on two themes: * Identity and Diversity in Organizations, * Cultural Change and Intervention. In the first semester students follow a number of in-depth seminars, using qualitative research methods which typify the ethnographic approach. In the second semester students conduct fieldwork research for their master thesis. They may conduct this research in the Netherlands or abroad.
