This programme not only provides students with professional qualifications for strategic decision-making in complex financial matters, but also gives competency in acting in an international context. The programme was recently ranked by the Financial Times as one of the worlds best international MSc programmes.
COURSE OUTLINE
The first semester features the following four courses: Corporate Finance; Internationalisation of the Firm; Applied Econometric Methods; and International Business Methods.
The second semester comprises the following specialising courses: International Financial Accounting I focuses on financial reporting requirements in international environments. International Financial Accounting II develops an understanding of the relevance of accounting information for decision-making and for the reliability and quality of accounting statements. Strategy and Management Accounting discusses and analyses elements of strategy formulation and strategic management accounting. Advanced Corporate Finance focuses on topics such as agency theory, asymmetric information and behavioural finance which are used to study capital structure, dividend and capital budgeting policies. International Business Finance focuses on firms operating internationally, which necessitates an understanding of the markets for products, factors of production and exchange-rate exposures.
In the third semester, students can choose courses in their areas of interest. These can be taken at Aarhus University, at a partner university outside Denmark or at the AU Summer University. Students can also participate in internship programmes in Denmark or abroad.
The fourth semester is devoted to the final thesis, where students have the opportunity to concentrate on and specialise in a specific field of interest.
