A diverse team of scientists is ready to offer you a two year international, interdisciplinary Masters programme in close collaboration with SINTEF and Statoil. You will work in a group comprising both Norwegian and international students. All teaching is in English. The programme also offers you the opportunity to experience one semester studying in Svalbard (UNIS), an archipelago situated in the heart of the Arctic. MSc in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry offers two specialisations:
Environmental Chemistry
Environmental Toxicology
This programme provides the vital link between environmental toxicology and environmental chemistry. The main focus of the programme will be the fate and effects of pollutants, and how they are distributed in the environment (including air, water, soil and food chains) both on a local and a global scale. You will study the interaction between environmental toxicants and organisms, and how this impacts on populations and ecosystems. Methods will include field work and/or experimental exposure studies in laboratory on individual organisms (in vivo) or on cell cultures (in vitro). It is also possible to specialise within the area of environmental monitoring of organic and inorganic chemical toxicants. This will include method development, and quality assurance using state of the art equipment. You will also study a wide range of environmental pollutants and methods of pollution control which are of utmost importance for the management of natural resources and ecosystems. Such skills and experiences are extremely marketable, making you attractive to a wide range of employers both in the public and private sectors.
