Description
You will explore the nature of security, digital evidence what is acceptable in law and what is not and focus on the special issues surrounding computer crime. The course also examines the role of the expert witness, the techniques and pitfalls, including forensic activities in our simulated crime scene environment.
This course is part of our Computing Framework, the structure of which provides a number of benefits for students:
- Your final choice of degree title and main areas of specialisation can be deferred until just before the start of the fourth year, thus allowing better informed decisions to be made.
- Combines breadth of coverage of core computing/IT topics, in a common first year, with increasing opportunities for specialisation as the course progresses.
- The third year is the industrial placement year. The placements are paid positions that give you valuable experience and a head start in the graduate job market. Top companies, including Microsoft, IBM, Intel, Oracle and JP Morgan, take placement students (and graduates) from our Framework year after year, as do many smaller companies.
