The mission of the Athabasca UniversityпПХs Health Administration program is to enable prospective health care administrators to develop the knowledge, values, skills that are essential for managing health care and public health services. This mission is congruent with Athabasca UniversityпПХs mission, which incorporates the removal of barriers, equality of educational opportunities for learners, and the provision of excellence in teaching, research, scholarship and community service. The Health Administration program is based on an understanding of health as a complex social construct. We respect the diverse values, beliefs, contributions, and health care needs of all populations and communities. We aspire to instill the importance of passion, commitment and enthusiasm for health care administration in a variety of settings, locally and globally.The program is offered via distance education where students study independently with academic support from qualified educators. It may be offered through classroom delivery in collaboration with community colleges. Distance education provides the opportunity for health professionals to access educational opportunities without leaving their homes or place of employment.
