By focusing on Health and Social Welfare Law, this LLM provides a breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding that opens up enhanced career choices in the area of the care, protection, management, policy and representation of those who are physically or mentally ill, suffering from a disability, children, elderly persons and other vulnerable persons. The programme offers the opportunity to study the topic within its national, European and international context.
Moreover, you can develop to become lawyers, non-lawyer advocates, social workers and even within the medical profession (including doctors, nurses and administrators and managers) and charitable/voluntary organisations.
Further flexibility is also available - this programme is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. In addition single modules may also be taken for CPD purposes.
This course will develop your understanding of the contrasting approaches to legal issues. Further it will develop your analytical and theoretical skills through the study of law in its social, economic and political context, and also your capacity to conduct legal research, to analyse critically arguments, theories, concepts and evidence, and to communicate the fruits of such research and analysis clearly, literately and concisely.
What's involved
This course is studied over one year on a full-time basis. You will learn through a combination of lectures, tutorials, LLM specialist seminars and independent study.

*Non-law entrants must study Legal Skills and Research Methods in trimester 1, in place of a Business School Masters level module.
