The Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education has ranked Purdue’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) as #1 at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. This program prepares students for management careers within the hospitality and tourism industries. Students gain hands-on experience and knowledge in the Boiler Bistro and John Purdue Room, and from two paid internships (in the United States and abroad) at restaurants, resorts, sports facilities, country clubs, convention and visitor bureaus, and hotels – including Purdue’s Union Club Hotel.  Students have the opportunity to study abroad in amazing locations such as the Shangri La Hotels in China; Shangri-La provides selected students with room and board, a small stipend and airfare worth about $25,000 - $30,000 per participant. Students develop critical thinking skills and a broad perspective in operations management, human resources, hospitality law, accounting, finance, marketing, information systems, international relations, and senior living. Students can choose concentrations in the following areas: Environment Sustainability, Human Resources, Layout and Design, Marketing/Sales.

  • Original or attested copies of all transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets and certificates from all secondary and post-secondary schools attended. 
  • SAT or ACT scores with writing is strongly encouraged for international citizens. International citizens who submit an exceptional SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing(new), SAT Critical Reading(old), or ACT English score may be exempt from submitting additional scores. Generally, an exceptional score is within the top 15 percentile
  • Proof of English Proficiency
  • Though not required, a letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged, especially for students eligible to be considered for scholarships, for the Honors College or for those who are applying to highly competitive programs.
