Information Science

The main emphasis in the three-year Bachelor's degree programme in Information Science is on web technology and computer linguistics. The programme will teach you, among other things, to develop websites, build search engines and write computer programs that can automatically analyse and manipulate text.  In the first year you will learn about programming, linguistics, electronic texts, web technology and computer communication. The subsequent years will focus on more specialist course units, in which you will learn how to systematically set up databases and represent knowledge in an accessible way. The course unit in Natural Language Processing will teach you how to write programmes that can automatically parse and interpret sentences. You will conclude your final year with a small-scale research project and a thesis. N.B. The courses in this programme are mainly taught in Dutch, this is not an international BA-programme.
