The main aim of this multi-faceted information technology degree is to allow students to develop an understanding of all the fundamental areas of IT systems, such as security, project management, database systems and communication technologies.

The course also equips students with a combination of generic technical knowledge and essential client-facing skills, in preparation for a career within the global IT industry.

Successful completion of this course offers wide-ranging career opportunities in the IT industry, private/public sectors, banking and financial services.

Graduates will be eligible to work in a multitude of areas such as database administration, project management, business or systems analysis, IT consultancy, support services, product management and training.

Meanwhile, The School of Computing has a World of Work agency, which enables students to contact potential employers and work on real projects, during their course and afterwards.

Course Structure
Students will take five core modules, one specialist optional module and a project of around 15,000 words.

IT Security Management
Software Project Management
Communication Technologies for IT
Research and Development Skills

Information Systems Development
Mobile Application Design and Development
Object Oriented Design and Programming

Assessment
Assessment is carried out by a variety of means including: practical projects, demonstrations, research assignments, presentations, group work and examinations.

Applicants should normally have at least a lower second-class Honours Degree (or equivalent) in a related subject (e.g. BSc Business Information Technology; BSc Business Computing; BSc Computing and Information Systems) OR extensive IT industrial experience in directly relevant skills which can be evidenced OR successful completion of Pre-Masters in Computing and Technology. Extensive programming skills are NOT a prerequisite. Graduates of business or economics related degrees will be considered if there is some IT/Computing content in their course or if they have relevant IT industrial experience. International students are obliged to meet the Universitys English qualification requirements.
