Module 4 "Accounting/Controlling": Basics of globalisation and international accounting; Instruments of accounting and basics of accounting; Term of controlling, aims and functions of international controlling

Module 5 "Operations Management": Operations strategies, operations management, operations design; Quality management

Module 6 "Intercultural Management": Intra- and intercultural communication; Communication in transnational companies, with suppliers and customers and in international contexts, intercultural conflict management; Development of intercultural capacities, individualism and collectivism, selected cultures; Negotiating in intercultural contexts, talks with foreign colleagues; Negotiating with business partners; Contacting public authorities

Module 7 "Finance": Global capital markets, international finance systems, international finance markets; International finance management, innovative financing instruments, operative finance management; Financial engineering, investment financing, portfolio investments; Export risk management, hedging of political risks, foreign trade financing, foreign exchange-rate risks, hedging of other economical risks

Educational organisation

First semester: Module 1 "Corporate Social Responsibility", Module 2 "Strategic Management" and Module 3 "Leadership"

Study abroad unit(s)

Participants spend the fourth semester of the programme at the Kettering University in Flint/Michigan, USA or at the Alexander Dubcek University Trencín, Slovakia.

Course objectives

For MBA students, the subjects controlling, finance, distribution, marketing/product management, accountancy, purchase, and procurement will be particularly relevant and attractive. Additionally, there are options to study management consultancy, financial services, automotive engineering and its supply industry, the electrical industry, tax consultancy, trading, information technology, and mechanical engineering.

Your first contact at the university is the international office (Akademisches Auslandsamt (AAA)). The office assists and mentors the international students at the WHZ. The AAA helps foreign students with public authorities, administration, and official paperwork.

Accommodation

Accommodation is available through the Chemnitz-Zwickau Student Union or on the private market. Rent for a single room in a student residence is approx. 210 EUR. As soon as you are admitted to the university, you will be able to register for a dormitory spot.
