Description
Throughout the course you will become a proficient and reflective practitioner of midwifery who is able to base their practice on research, holistic care and commitment to lifelong learning. Theory and practice are integrated throughout, and experience is gained in both community and hospital settings, working in partnership with mothers and midwives.
If you choose your teaching base in Bournemouth, you will have placements at one of the following locations: Dorchester, Poole/Bournemouth, Salisbury, Yeovil or Basingstoke/Winchester.
If your teaching base is at our branch campus in Portsmouth, you will experience placements in Portsmouth, Basingstoke/Winchester or the Isle of Wight.
When on placement you will experience the full 24 hour shift pattern to include 12-13 hour shifts, weekends and night shifts.
Our graduates enjoy a range of career opportunities both within the NHS and the private sector nationally and this qualification is also accepted by many countries throughout the world.

Tuition feeTuition Fees for eligible UK/EU students are paid by the National Health Service (NHS).
The financial support package for 2014/15 has not yet been confirmed. We will update this page when we have further information. The information shown below is for 2013/14:
All UK/EU students are eligible for:
- A non-means tested grant of £1,000 (non-repayable)
- A means-tested bursary of up to £4,395 (non-repayable)
Students are also entitled to apply for a reduced rate non-means-tested loan from Student Finance England of £2,324; this will need to be repaid after graduation. Visit the NHS Student Bursaries office website for more information and where you can complete an online calculator to work out how much support you will be eligible for.
Channel Island and Isle of Man applicants are eligible for an NHS commissioned place, but are not eligible to receive NHS funding. Applicants therefore have to fund the course privately or via their Island LEA.

340 Tariff points from 3 A-levels or 3 A-levels and 1 AS-level, including 100 points from a required subject, or equivalent qualifications. BTEC Extended Diploma DDD - offers will be subject and grade specific, particularly in the science subjects. This course requires you to Pass the Access to HE Diploma (with 60 Credits - at least 45 at level 3 remainder at level 2 or equivalent) A minimum of 15 credits at Merit in Biology is required and additional subjects taken should include Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, Sociology or Health Science. Offers will be subject and grade specific.
