Fundamental engineering principles will be taught in English language during the basic course period (semesters 1 + 2) of the international and interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programme. This will make the course work more accessible for international students and simultaneously prepare German students for a career in international companies. An orientation module of the introductory phase conveys an overview of knowledge from central fields of all subject areas in order to facilitate the choice between the three specialisation areas. Subsequently the focus will shift to the existing lectures (modules) in food technology, applied computer science, electrical engineering.

The student will acquire a competency for planning, execution and analysis of technical projects as well as working independently in engineering, specifically in focus areas such as applied computer science, electrical engineering and food technology. Besides giving a quick start to working life there is also the opportunity to enter a Master's programme.

Academic requirements

In order to be eligible for admission to this Bachelor's programme at Fulda University, you must
1) have a university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB) for German universities
2) English skills (level B1 or TOEFL)

Semester contribution

The semester contribution of approx. 330 EUR entitles you, amongst other things, to use the regional and local public transport in Germany

Costs of living

Approx. 950 EUR per month, including enrolment fee, rent and health insurance (120 EUR minimum per month), depending on one's living standard

From tutoring jobs and student assistantships at Fulda University to typical students´ jobs in restaurants, shops and many other industries in the city of Fulda and surroundings, there is a wide range of job opportunities available.

Arrival support

  • Pre-arrival assistance, i.e. visa support
  • Orientation week takes place prior to the start of the programme, including pick-up service at Fulda train station and intercultural training. For students of the Master in Global Software Development, the orientation takes place at the beginning of the compulsory four-week intensive German language course prior to the start of the programme.
  • Assistance with accommodation and with administrative formalities is offered.

Services and support for international students

  • A Buddy programme organised by the International Office for all new international students. The buddy introduces the new student to the social and academic sides of student life at Fulda University.
