The course was developed following discussion with specific organisations including UK Sport, Sport England, Sports Coach UK, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity, and National Governing Bodies.As well as the placement year, you will develop your skills in coaching, development and management environments. You will graduate with an academic degree, a range of specific professional experiences and the key personal skills required to excel in employment.
Industry links
Links have been developed with a number of key partners for example the Club Managers Association of Europe, the RFU and Dorset FA. You will benefit from an increasing numbers of guest lectures from companies such as FIFA. Other links exist with England Athletics, Wessex Volleyball, Southampton FC, and AFC Bournemouth.
We have also developed international links with visiting academics (University of Florida), guest lectures (Heidelberg, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen), and collaborative research activity (such as those with University of Western Sydney, Murray State University, USA, The Tourism Institute, Macau, University College, Florida, Victoria University, and the University of South Australia).
Industrial Experience & Employability
The number of graduates entering the sporting industry is increasing. Potential employers are increasingly looking towards vocational expertise and experience to compliment academic qualifications. Our course is specifically designed to address this issue with the third year of the course being spent on an industrial placement in the sporting industry. This placement will give you the opportunity to gain the industrial experience and relevant sporting skills that employers are seeking from todays graduates.
