Description

If you obtain an A at A-level or its equivalent in the language, you have the option of taking your Translation, Media and Spanish degree in three years instead of four. In place of the year abroad, you spend a semester (the second semester in your second year) at a university in the country where the foreign language is spoken. Your work there is assessed and counts towards your degree. This option is popular with mature students who value the opportunity to extend their language competence beyond A-level in classes taught mostly in the relevant language in combination with the study of language related/cultural topics taught in English. Such students who have family commitments need to be clear that the semester abroad is a compulsory element.
Typical offers are ABB. Should you apply for one of these three-year programmes, be made a conditional offer, and subsequently obtain a B or its equivalent at A-level in the relevant language; it is likely that we will be able to make you a changed course offer for the four-year version of that programme. Conversely, if you apply for the four-year version, obtain an A in the language, and then decide that you would prefer to take the three-year variant, it is likely that we will be able to accommodate you in this course change. It is not possible to take two languages to Honours level on the three-year programme.
