Youll also get one core text book for every module that you study. These are your texts to keep. You could choose to sell them or donate them to our University Centre Library when you successfully complete your course.

Course Content

This well-established national qualification is at an intermediate level and places academic theory and learning within a practical vocational context. You will be encouraged to broaden your personal understanding of Hospitality Management and develop valuable transferable skills to really enhance your employment prospects.

This HND is the starting point for your management career in the hospitality and industry. It draws on extensive experience in providing hospitality management education.

The degree is based around specific industry studies and a core of business and management subjects. You will study a range of fundamental and specialist management subjects which will enable you to increase your knowledge and develop an understanding of the key skills, approaches and techniques that you will need to manage a successful hospitality operation. Youll also look at issues surrounding nutrition and diet as well as aspects of successful event management. This will ensure that you graduate from the course with a well-rounded view of Hospitality Management.

We have chosen modules within the programme that are particularly relevant for International students and the HND qualification is recognised by the Institute of Hospitality.

You will study for approximately 20 hours per week and will receive three hours of English support as well as optional academic support sessions during your studies.

The order that you study the modules in will vary depending on when you join the course.

How will I be assessed?

During the course youll be assessed by a variety of methods these assessments can take the form of group or individual presentations as well as individual coursework assignments throughout the course. There is an assessment week after you have completed each module this is when you will complete your individual assignments putting into practice the knowledge and skills you have learnt during the taught sessions of the module.

Requirements

Youll need to demonstrate your ability to study at an intermediate undergraduate level. You might have the international equivalent of a BTEC National Diploma or A Levels, as well as international equivalents of GCSEs. You will need to have an IELTs score of 5.5 in order to join the programme.
