The Department of Economics on the Rutgers Newark campus is composed of research-active faculty dedicated to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Whether you are headed to the job market or graduate school, Economics (the only social science with a Nobel Prize) may be the ideal major or minor for you.

The Department of Economics is one of the core social science departments within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Newark at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Our offices are located on the 8th floor of Hill Hall at 360 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in the University Heights section of Newark, New Jersey.

All students must complete three core courses with an average grade of B or better:

* Microeconomic Theory
* Macroeconomic Theory
* Econometrics I

The Masters Program in Economics requires that you take the GRE General Test or GMAT. Foreign students must also take the TOEFL. There are no minimum requirements to get into the Masters program as applicants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, if you have low GRE scores or you do not have adequate mathematic background, you should strongly consider trying to improve these things before you apply.
