Is the new whooping-cough vaccine better than the old one? Which prescription drugs should insurance companies reimburse? Is genetically modified food bad for you? Does society want cloned animals, or even 'designer babies'? Providing the best possible answers to these questions calls for synergy between several disciplines and actors in society, from the government, industry and social institutions to consumers and patients.
