Mathematics and Physics form the basis for all technical and scientific research. These two subjects are an indispensable prerequisite for technological developments in modern society. In this program the student will learn about modelling of mathematical and physical systems. Furthermore, the student will be able to demonstrate the ability to synthesize appropriate mathematical concepts and methods in order to analyse and solve relevant problems.

Competence in mathematics and physics are always in demand in industry, research and education. These subjects will never be outdated or redundant, and society will always need good mathematicians and physicists.

A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and/or Physicsis required. Other degrees with documented corresponding in-depth extent of mathematics and physics courses may be considered. All candidates have to document on their academic transcript of records at least 120 ECTS points in mathematics/physics. 120 ECTS is roughly equivalent to a total workload of 70 percent (70%) of a total Bachelor's degree. BSc in Norway provides the students with 180 ECTS points in total.English Language RequirementsProficiency in English is required of all students in Norway. Students who are not native speakers of English have to document their knowledge of English. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6 TOEFL paper-based test score : 550 TOEFL iBT® test: 80

There are no scholarships available for international students, except for a limited amount of Quota scholarships (special conditions apply). International students should be prepared to self-finance their studies in Norway.

The Quota Scheme offers Norwegian government funding to students from developing countries and countries in Eastern Europe, Western Balkans and Central Asia, for studies at institutions of higher education in Norway. The number of scholarships available under this scheme is very limited and scholarships are addressed exclusively to candidates from institutions with formal collaboration agreements with the University of Stavanger.
