The MBA programme at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is designed for young, high-potential employees who require solid management skills in addition to their existing academic qualifications and who need to combine continuing professional development with full-time employment. It is tailored by experts to meet the challenges of a dynamic global economy. Following the concept of applied sciences, it focuses on a close connection between theory and practical application.

Educational organisation

The MBA programme is offered full-time (three semesters) or part-time (four semesters). The programme has a modular structure and offers each individual the possibility of adjusting the learning pace to suit his or her own needs.
The part-time structure of the MBA programme conveniently enables participants to combine a career with continuing education. No time off work is necessary and the entire programme can be completed parallel to full-time employment or an internship. However, the full-time programme offers the opportunity to complete the MBA programme within a shorter time frame. This option is especially designed for international students who want to concentrate on their studies and quickly return to their jobs and families .
The MBA programme comprises 11 modules and a total of 90 credit points (CP). The core courses impart special management-related business knowledge in selected areas:

Forms of assessment

The core courses consist of in-class tuition and additional work at home, combined with the intensive application of management and decision-making skills in practical exercises and case studies.
In order to complete each module, an achievement test must be passed. These tests accompany the studies and consist of case study presentations, exercises, project studies and written tests.

Course objectives

Our mission is to develop competent and responsible business leaders capable of meeting challenges in today's international business environment. With this course of study we provide a practical and internationally oriented education which promotes a thorough understanding of changing and challenging business processes. An integrated and intensive curriculum covering the most important areas in business management today will introduce you to innovative methods and concepts. You will acquire and apply the knowledge and tools to solve business problems in a global context.
Furthermore, particular importance is attached to the development of the interpersonal skills of our students. These include: an ability to work in teams, decision-making, presentation techniques, conducting negotiations and intercultural understanding. We will endow you with the leadership skills necessary for your management position and help you in the art of developing business visions. In order to teach you these skills and make them operational, a powerful, step-by-step procedure has been designed to assist you in assuming a leading position in your personal field of competence and interest.

Language requirements

Applicants must provide proof of their English skills with one of these certificates (not older than two years):
  • TOEFL internet-based score 88 or better
  • IELTS minimum band score 6.5 or better
  • Cambridge Certificates:
    • FCE - First Certificate of English (General English, B2), Grade A
    • BEC Vantage (B2), Grade B or better
    • BEC Higher (C1), Grade C or better

Academic requirements

  • Graduation from a first degree programme: an above-average economics or non-economics university degree
  • adequate basic knowledge of business administration (Applicants who do not have adequate basic knowledge of economics are expected to take preparation courses.)
  • a minimum of three years of professional experience after graduation
  • comprehensive knowledge of the English language with a corresponding test certificate

Enrolment fees

Approx. 280 EUR per semester. The fee includes a semester ticket covering public transport in the Rhine-Main metropolitan area.

Costs of living

Approx. 1,000 EUR per month to cover personal expenses

Arrival support

During Welcome Days, the first days of your stay in Darmstadt, you will get to know Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences as well as the city of Darmstadt.
All formalities concerning your stay will be settled during the first days. Student tutors will help you open up a bank account, set up health insurance and enrol at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. They will also accompany you when you visit the foreigners' registration office (Ausländerbehörde).
Campus tours of the university and also a tour of the city of Darmstadt will be held in order to help you find your way around in your new environment.
