Among the basic requirements of the people Health Services has a special previlage and importance. However, in order to provide an effective health service to society, all the stakeholders needs to associate together and keep the sustainability of this unity. The nursing profession is the strongest predictor of the quality of health services. This is most probably because, from patients’ point of view the intensity of the care given is very high between nurses and patients.
The quality and the proficiency of the service given depend on the competence of the nurses and available conditions. The rapid change in the health sector, increase in competition both national and international arenas, the growing importance of the quality of health, the rising necessity of patient and caregivers satisfaction, have revealed that nursing education needs to be conveyed to the undergraduate level.
With this awareness Izmir University of Economics is planning to educate nurses who will;
enable to give education and serve to community in order to protect and improve the health of society,
contribute to the proffesion and science by providing global knowledge,
culturally equipped,
have ethical principles and ability of being a team member,
be able to solve problems and make researches on their own proffession
Undergraduate programs of İzmir University of Economics consist of at least 52 courses with 240 ECTS credits in total.
There are at least 5 courses in each semester excluding common compulsory courses and Second Foreign Language courses.
In each program, there are common compulsory courses defined by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), Second Foreign Languages, and other common courses determined by the University Senate.
Beginning from the junior (third) year, elective courses are anticipated in each semester.
25% of the elective courses are taken from other faculties.
There are at least 10 elective courses in each undergraduate program.

At the end of the semester, the assignments of the students related to these seminars and conferences are evaluated. | |

When beginning the freshman year, the students choose one of the second foreign language courses and register to this course during the 8 semesters. |
In the framework of the regulations set by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), student admission for this undergraduate program is made through a university entrance examination called ÖSYS. Following the submission of students’ academic program preferences, Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) places the students to the relevant program according to the score they get from ÖSYS.
International students are accepted to this undergraduate program according to the score of one of the international exams they take such as SAT,ACT etc. or according to their high school diploma score.
Exchange student admission is made according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by IUE and the partner university.
Visiting students can enroll for the courses offered in this program upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, they need to prove their English language level since the medium of instruction at IUE is English.
The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.
