With a Master of Social Work, then you will have the relevant skills, experience and platform to protect the vulnerable, fight social injustice and help individuals from disadvantaged situation turn their lives around. Hunt membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) once you graduate and set up yourself for older roles in a fast growing sector. You will study this course along side a set of students which, while diverse, all share a frequent passion for helping others. Many join the class after completing a bachelor degree in a cognate discipline, such as psychology, and allied health and nursing. You will tackle no less than 1000 hours of specialist placement educating you to the challenges you will face in your upcoming role. You can take on placements at a number of organisations, widening your experience and professional networks and you will certainly be supervised by qualified social work professionals who can give you feedback and expert guidance along the way.
The professionally qualifying Master of Social Work creates a new pathway for entry to the profession and also prepares graduates for a more high level of practice. The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) has fully accredited the Master of Social Work. The AASW has also singled out Deakin because of our'seriously reflective practice', putting us apart from other social work programs in Australia.
Entry will be determined by performance in Bachelor degree in an associated area, with two components from the analysis of individual behaviour and also 2 components from the analysis of society.
