The Master of Science in Wood Technology at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is an international Master's programme that is offered in conjunction with Bern University of Applied Sciences for Architecture, Wood, and Civil Engineering in Biel, Switzerland. Both universities offer their students practically applicable knowledge via new technologies in an international setting.
The Master's programme in Wood Technology covers the whole range of wood processing and timber engineering. Based on the general subjects within the whole programme, students select one of two fields of studies:
"Management of Processes and Innovation" concentrates on issues of the production and development of wood-based products. Due to the broad field, each student will concentrate further on particular aspects such as automation, production management, product development, material sciences, production & logistics, furniture, etc.
"Complex Timber Structures" (only offered at Bern University of Applied Sciences) comprises all aspects regarding design and construction of wooden structures (in particular prefab houses) and adjacent fields such as building physics. Students focus further on sub-fields such as timber construction, building physics, building services engineering, retrofitting, interior engineering, etc.

Educational organisation
Rosenheim:The programme is structured in three main parts according to the semesters.
The first semester comprises the modules "Mathematics & Sciences", "Skills for Management", and "Legal & Economical Aspects".
The second semester contains the specialisation modules.
Rosenheim only offers the specialisation "Management of Processes and Innovation". The modules for this specialisation are "Design & Development", "Advanced Wood Processing", "Energy, Supply, Logistics", and "Enterprise Resource Planning".

In the third semester, the students write the Master's thesis.
This is a joint degree programme.
Part-time studies are possible.
Study abroad unit(s)
Participants spend a one-week seminar in the second semester at Bern University of Applied Sciences in Biel, Switzerland. Further non-compulsory lectures offered in Biel or other universities or at the sites of industry partners abroad may be chosen according to the personal study plans of the students.Internships
None requiredFor international students without industrial experience, it is highly recommended that you include an industry internship semester after one or two semesters to gain practical experience. However, this is not an official requirement for completing the Master's programme, but it usually presents a very good opportunity to develop a Master's thesis topic with an industrial company.

Graduates of the Master of Science in Wood Technology have acquired extensive knowledge in wood technology, and possess the competencies needed to deal with practical and scientific issues related to working with and processing wood and derived timber products. This enables them to make sensible business decisions in a world of increasingly globalised competition. In-depth technical and management knowledge, combined with social skills, qualifies them for high-level professional positions, especially within internationally active companies.Language requirements

Academic requirements
1. Applications are invited from candidates with an above-average Bachelor's degree (at least six semesters) or equivalent certificate from a recognised university in the areas of wood technology, timber engineering, interior engineering or related areas.2. An above-average degree is considered to have a total grade of "good".
3. If English is not your native language, an English language certificate is required. The required scores are stated under Language Requirements.
4. For admission to the course, successful completion of the entrance exam (in the form of an interview) for the Master's programme in Wood Technology is usually required.

A student needs about 670 EUR per month to cover living expenses, student accommodation, health insurance, and other related costs in Rosenheim. So all together, one should calculate approx. 8,040 EUR per year.The municipal immigration office in Rosenheim requires international students to prove that they have at least 670 EUR available per month for the desired duration of their stay in Rosenheim. This is a legal regulation for the extension of the initial visa, which is usually only valid for two or three months.

A limited number of student jobs are available at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences (e.g., for lab work, research projects, or for other support functions).For good students, part-time jobs can usually be found at regional companies or in Munich, which is a 35-minute train ride from Rosenheim.
