Description

This event management degree will give you first-hand experience with the international event industry in Switzerland and/or London. You will develop project management skills and business acumen as you take charge of campus events, assist in regional events, and complete two, 6-month industry internships. The program also teaches core business management and specialized skills to prepare students for a wide range of senior management positions in the booming Event, Sport and Entertainment industry.

Glion London, our campus in South West London, will allow you to spend two semesters enjoying the extensive social and sports activities of the University of Roehampton, just 40 minutes away from London’s city center.

Switzerland

Two campuses in Switzerland, the home of many large sports organizations like FIFA, UEFA and the International Olympic Committee and host to numerous international events every year : Glion campus, a hotel school setting above Lake Geneva; and Bulle campus, a business atmosphere in a university setting.

Course Content

This is a general overview of the courses and concepts addressed in each semester of the Bachelor degree program.

SEMESTERS 1 & 2

  • Craft-based learning in Event, Sport & Entertainment

Craft-Based learning in the ESE program is also known as the “Project Factory”. It is a two-semester approach to hands-on event planning that teaches students team work, project management. Through internal and external event organization exercises, they gain real-life learning experience, analyze outcomes and learn to meet industry standards.

SEMESTER 3 – Internship

The First Internship semester is designed to let the student practice the techniques they learned on campus and explore their personal strengths in a real work environment.

SEMESTER 5 – Internship

The final year of the bachelor degree focuses exclusively on higher-level management and business administration with common courses: Systems Analysis for Hospitality & Tourism Industry, Managing Visitor Spaces for Tourism & Leisure, Spa Management, Casino Management, Industrial Employment Culture, Contemporary Issues in Entertainment and Leisure, Legislation and Contractual Law, Economics for Hospitality & Leisure.

Specializations:

Bachelor of Business Administration in Event, Sport and Entertainment

This track prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities in these dynamic industries. In particular, it provides students with transferable business knowledge and skills that are highly sought after in corporations and entrepreneurial environments.

Bachelor of Arts in International Event Management

To meet the employment requirements of the rapidly growing event industry, graduates will gain a full understanding of planning and managing events in the sport, leisure and entertainment sectors. Using skills such as critical analysis, communication, leadership and project management, program graduates will be prepared to take on a multitude of roles in event venues.

Bachelor of Arts in International Sport Management

This option will allow students to acquire the necessary competencies to manage sport clubs, teams and associated operations.

Bachelor of Arts in Event, Sport and Entertainment Marketing and Communication Management

This option will allow students to acquire the necessary competencies to manage the marketing and communications operations for sport and entertainment organizations.

Requirements

When considering candidates for admission, the Admissions Manager looks at the entire profile of the applicant, including academic records, work experience if any, extracurricular activities, test scores and recommendations. The institution maintains a rolling admissions policy. This means that the applicants credentials are evaluated as soon as the application form is received, with all the pertinent information. A decision is normally reached within three weeks of reception.

  • Applicants must be 18 years old and above at the start of program.
  • Applicants must have a Baccalauréat, Maturité, Abitur, A-levels, IB Diploma, High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • English Requirements*:

    * If English is your mother tongue, or if you have spent 3 years in an English-taught school you will not need an English certificate. All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission.
