Adelphi University’s BA in Art History provides you with the opportunity to study art from passionate scholars who care deeply about research and teaching. You will work closely with faculty members who will advise you in your studies and guide you through your research. The faculty regularly takes advantage of the University’s proximity to New York City by holding classes in museums and art galleries, inviting guest scholars and curators to campus, and encouraging students to pursue internships in the city.
Some of the Key components of our program include:
- Fundamental survey courses in Art and the World, Ancient and Medieval Art, The Italian and Northern Renaissance, The Baroque, Modern Art, Contemporary Art, History of Photography
- Original courses such as History of Animation and Comics, The Ugly in Art, The Dead and their Stones, Saints and Sinners, Intellectual History of Art Forgeries
- Visiting art historians lecture series
- Seminar class that meets weekly at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
- Opportunity to study Renaissance Art and Architecture in Florence, Italy
