The course provides an opportunity for graduates of non-computing disciplines to develop the specialist skills suitable for a career in Computing. It allows those who wish to apply their knowledge and expertise in a technical environment to develop the core computing skills needed to do so.

You will develop skills in software development, database systems, network management and web programming, as well as the research and development skills required to undertake a sustained piece of software project work. The Software Project Engineering, Cisco modules and MSc Project modules are of particular value to employers.

This course is available to study full-time or part-time. The part-time mode is ideal if you would like to develop your career but are unable to commit to full time study.

The two networking modules are taught by Cisco-accredited trainers. The module content covers Semesters 1 to 4 of Cisco's Training Academy and will fully prepare students for Cisco accreditation. This is the key professional training required for a career in network management.

This course is ideal for students who possess a first degree in any non-computing discipline. Other qualifications and experience will be considered with entry being subject to the University's judgement that the person has reasonable expectation of being able to fulfil the requirements of the award.All international students, for whom English is not their first language, must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.0 or its equivalent prior to receiving an unconditional offer of a place on the course.IELTS 6.0 or equivalent means: * IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the 4 individual elements * TOEFL 80 overall with a 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing * Pearson PTE 59 overall with a minimum of 51 in each of the 4 individual elements English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 TOEFL iBT® test: 90 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa. Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan
Applicants (Scottish domiciled and EU) to this course may be eligible for a Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan (PTFL). Full-time students can apply for a PTFL up to £3400. Part-time students can apply for up to £1700. The tuition fee loan is only available to part-time students who are undertaking at least 50% of a full-time course, and therefore, complete their qualification in 2 years.
