This system aims to offer students with a relevant first level the opportunity to obtain a professional qualification as a dietitian. Dietitians have an integral part in the nourishment of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal disorderssuch as hypertension, malnutrition, food allergies and intolerance. Dietitians also work toward the prevention of several diseases and conditions during nutrition education, health promotion and advocacy. Graduates work in all areas of dietetics, including hospitals, private practice, community health and the food industry.

The Master of Dietetic Practice has provisional accreditation from the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA). Graduates of the Master of Dietetic Practice will apply for membership with the DAA. Membership might be susceptible to additional or ongoing conditions beyond finishing the degree. Please contact with the relevant professional body to get details.

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health or science related field, completed within the previous five years using a minimum grade average of 70 percent (or following post graduate study and/or appropriate work experience)
  • Subject prerequisites from the Bachelor's level or postgraduate program, or taken as single-subject (non-award) studies are: two full semester subjects of individual anatomy at next year tertiary level or greater
  • Two full session subjects of biochemistry at next year tertiary level or greater
  • Two full session subjects of individual nutrition science at virtually any tertiary level
  • Notice: Each subject has to be equal to at least 0.125 Effective Full-time Research Unit (EFTSU)
  • requisite subjects specified to be at next year tertiary level or higher must be at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 or more equal or higher
  • Bio Chemistry studies must have included fundamentals of molecular biology, protein structure and role, etc..
