Last year, internationally, the world's top 250 retailers' revenue rose to US$4.271 trillion. The retail sector provides employment for three million people in the UK and is the UK's largest private employer. Retail is big business!
This is a challenging and stimulating programme focused on developing you into a talented manager. It reflects the innovative culture of retailing with contemporary study such as e-commerce and self-service - areas that are reshaping the shopping experience on both a local and global level.
In addition to the central subject of international retail management, you will develop essential communication, cultural awareness and leadership skills that will give you a huge advantage when applying for jobs in your chosen sector.
This isn't just a theoretical course - you'll be exposed to 'live' industry practice through case studies, masterclasses, practical exercises and a structured retail work placement. In third year, you'll be running a pop-up retail store. This challenging exercise provides you experience working in a team to develop your management and entrepreneurial skills in a real retail environment.
Our graduates have the skills and knowledge required to progress from store management right up to the head office.

Course Content

In year one, you will build a foundation in business and management together with an understanding of the contemporary issues and challenges in International Retail Management. Thought-out levels 2, 3 and 4, you will build your area of expertise through the study of retail operations, the retail supply chain, consumer buying behaviour, retail buying and visual merchandising and international retail brand marketing together with e-business and supply chain management. All modules have a particular focus on the digital market place.
In addition to the central subject of international retail management, you will study a range of complementary business modules designed to provide you with a wider understanding of business and the society in which you'll operate as a global leader of tomorrow.
Optional modules can be selected from a wide variety of subject including European languages, psychology, sociology, politics, history, communications, and other management or business related subjects, allowing you to excel as a well-rounded graduate.
